Planting Flower Bulbs
Planting flower bulbs is relatively easy and can provide years of beautiful blooms. Fall flower bulbs bloom in the springtime and to help you along with your planting, here are some helpful tips from the Strosniders garden department.
Purchase flower bulbs early and store them in a cool, dark place until ready to plant.
Plant fall bulbs as late as the soil still can be worked.
Plant bulbs close together in groups or clumps to avoid the look of “soldiers in a line.”
Plant in layers with early bloomers on top and later bloomers deeper.
If unsure as which is the top or bottom of the bulb, plant it on its side.
Bulbs labeled “naturalize” will multiply in the ground without help.
Some bulbs should be dug up each year and stored.
Please read the package of your bulbs and follow the recommend instructions.
Happy Planting!
